So this is gonna be a thing I hope!
I was perusing my friend Jane Scrivens’ blog and I noted that she had completed her May update so here is mine solidly 6 days into June – nothing quite like being on time!
May brought some interesting things for me… I hit 50 followers on Twitter! (go and follow me if you want regular updates as I’m on there and Insta the most), people actually liked my facebook page which is huge. I didn’t think I achieved much in the social media department but looking at it, I actually did okay! =D
I also began work on the official edit for Hybrid which means things are progressing for the final rewrite of Hybrid which means things are moving forward and the end is in sight. Though I think, if I let myself, I would tinker with the book forever. I already have people, friends and family both, asking whether I’m finished with it yet. This is a common theme for slower writers. I think anyone who hasn’t attempted to write a book underestimates how long it takes… I certainly did. Draft 1 at least 6 months given my current writing style and speed. Beyond that.. well let’s just say this book has been a long time in the making. So I can understand their line of questioning… but still.
The seasons are changing here in New Zealand, the leaves are almost completely gone from the trees and my breath fogs when I go to work in the mornings. I love winter. Almost as much as I love autumn. Mostly because my birthday is in winter. I don’t know why, but despite being in my late twenties, my birthday (and Christmas) still hasn’t lost that glimmer of magic from childhood. I think it may partly be the attention.. and the presents. But there is something to be said for knowing that somewhere out there, there are others celebrating their own day with you. And I think that is friggen awesome. =)
Not many big updates this month. I am counting down the days until I can really get this going with writing updates, a cover reveal and the big I’m published post complete with links to buy =D
Speaking of my writing, the word count for both Hybrid and Broken are creeping up there and it won’t be long until we are words complete on both (scary thought).
That’s all for now, go write some words =D
